Nepali Traditional Dining (Dal Bhat)

Magarati Bhansa (Dhal - Bhat - Masu)
 
Dhal Bhat Masu is a Nepalese daily meal in every Nepali household. Especially in Thakali and Magarati traditional non-vegetarian food. We reflect this tradition and serve pre-plated Magarati style dishes, including Lamb or Chicken Curry with rice, lentils, bread, pickles and green salad.
 
Krishna Parnami Bhojan
Satyuk Bhojan is a vegetarian meal with a strong connection with Nepalese culture. This is traditional Nepali vegetarian dining and includes rice, lentils, green vegetable curry, bread, pickle and green salad.


Kathmandu Choila

Boneless fresh lamb or chicken, marinated with fenugreek, green chilli, red onion, spring onion, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, a touch of lime, mustard oil and fresh lemon, served cold with salad and plain nan or rice.
 
Momo
Steamed dumplings, either with mixed vegetables, chicken or lamb, seasoned with onions, ginger and our secret masala, served with dipping sauce.

Tandoori Specialities – All served on a sizzling plate with rice or nan and vegetable curry sauce.

Kathmandu Kebab Sizzler
Chicken, lamb, king prawn and Seekh kebab marinated in Nepalese spice grilled in a clay oven with onions and peppers. With plain nan or rice.

Tikka
Lamb or chicken marinated overnight in our Sekuwa sauce quickly roasted in the tandoori oven with onions and lemon, served with plain nan or rice.

Chicken Shashlik
Boneless chicken pieces cooked in a clay oven with onions, tomatoes and capsicum.

Tandoori Chicken
Chicken on the bone marinated in yogurt, Nepalese spice and herbs grilled in a tandoori oven, served with plain nan or rice.

Himalayan Curry
A unique Nepalese curry dish with yogurt, coriander, ginger and a touch of garlic prepared with Nepalese home style.
 
Nepalese Curry
Traditional Nepalese curry, cooked with onions and tomatoes.

Kathmandu Special Curry
Chicken, lamb and prawns cooked in a special house sauce and medium spice.

Saag ra Masu
Chicken, lamb or prawns cooked with spinach and fresh herbs in tomato and onion sauce, ginger, garlic and homemade spices.
 
Kathmandu Chilli Chicken
Deep fried chicken with onions, capsicum, green chillies, coriander, spring onions and homemade chilli sauce. A popular dish in Kathmandu.
 
Tikka Masala
Boneless chicken, lamb or prawns cooked in a tandoori oven and served in a rich, creamy masala sauce.
 
Butter Chicken
Boneless breast chicken cooked in a tomato sauce, nuts, butter cream, herbs and Nepalese spices.
 
Lasune (Garlic) Chicken
Chicken cooked in a garlic and ginger paste with onions, tomato sauce, chopped garlic, green chillies and coriander.

Common Main Courses

Balti
An authentic medium hot dish prepared with fresh ginger and garlic using a myriad of herbs, spices, onions, tomatoes, green pepper and coriander.

Bhuna
A beautiful combination of spices with onion, tomatoes and green pepper in a firm dry sauce of medium consistency.

Jalfrizi
A fairly hot dish prepared with chunks of capsicum, onions, fresh green chillies, and tomatoes, fresh lemon and fresh herbs.

Rogan Josh
This has the characteristics of herbs and freshly ground spices, with fresh ginger, garlic and onions. It is an original Indian dish with a great aroma.

Dopiaza
Whole rings of onions briskly fried, prepared with medium spices and seasoned with ginger, garlic and coriander.

Dhansak
Good combinations of spices cooked with herbs and lentils and garnished with fresh tomatoes and coriander. This dish is fairly sweet and sour.

Madras
A southern Indian dish with quite a hot and spicy taste, highly flavoured with ginger, garlic, tomatoes and lemon juice which lends a fiery taste to its richness.

Vindaloo
A plentiful amount of chillies, ginger, garlic, tomatoes, lime juice and black pepper with aromatic herbs and spices.

Karahi
Whole coriander seeds, tomato, onions and capsicum, cooked in spices, curry sauce, ginger, garlic paste and fresh coriander. Can be served mild, medium or hot.

Korma
This dish is for curry beginners. It is a very mild dish cooked with coconut powder and butter for a rich, creamy texture.

Biriyani
This is a rice-based dish, made with special spices, nuts, raisins and aromatic basmati rice. Served with curry sauce or a cooling yogurt on the side.

Pasanda
A very mild dish cooked in a rich creamy sauce with a dash of white wine and cashew nuts.

Kashmiri
Cooked with chef’s special creamy rich masala and fruit cocktail.

Pancha Ratna Dhal
Mixed variety of lentils cooked slowly on a low heat in the authentic Nepalese style with a touch of Nepalese spices.

Dhal Makhani
Black lentils and kidney beans cooked slowly overnight in a fire with butter
 
Aloo Tama
Chopped potatoes, bamboo and black eyed beans cooked in Nepalese spices with tomato, ginger and garlic.

Saag ra Paneer
Cottage cheese cooked with spinach in a thick tomato and onion sauce and Nepalese spices and ginger garlic paste.

Matter Paneer
Cottage cheese cooked with boiled green peas with onion, tomato sauce and Nepalese spices.

Saag Aloo
Potato cooked with spinach in thick tomato and onion sauce with ginger, garlic and Nepalese spices,

Aloo ra Kauli
Chopped potatoes cooked with cauliflower in a tomato and onion sauce, sliced peppers and onion.

Malai Kofta
Mixed minced potato and cottage cheese fried and cooked in a thick creamy sauce.

Kathmandu Special Vegetable Curry
Mixed vegetables cooked in Nepalese spices with ginger, garlic, chopped tomatoes and nuts.

Cheu (Mushroom) Curry
Medium spiced mushrooms cooked in Nepalese spices, tomato, onion and peppers.

Chana Masala
Chick peas cooked with potatoes, medium spices, chopped tomatoes, red onion and ginger.

Navaratna Korma
Mixed vegetables and fruit cooked together with yogurt and cashew sauce.

Vegetable Chowmin
Stir fried vegetables cooked with slices of onion, tomato, peppers, diced carrots, spices, soya sauce and noodles

Chicken Chowmin
Stir fried chicken mixed with onion, tomato, peppers, diced carrots, spices, soya sauce and noodles.
